Cyberpunk jacked in. We wake up.
Neuromancer gave us chrome, rain and a matrix to escape into. Lucidpunk keeps the neon and the rain. It just moves the upgrade inside. Attention is the implant. Your conditioning is the system. Seeing it is the hack.
99% of people are 99% of the time reacting to something.
That's the real control grid. Not chrome in your skull. A hook, a reaction, a story, repeat. The feeds figured it out first: they don't sell products, they sell predictable humans.
Reactivity is a tax you pay each day. And someone else is collecting.
The old punk move was to hack the system. The lucid move is to stop running on it. Someone who no longer reacts on cue falls off the grid. Not by escaping. By seeing.
High awareness.
Low conditioning.
Who runs the city.
Same rain-soaked megacity. Different war. Nobody's fighting over territory. They're fighting over your attention, and whether you'll ever notice it's yours.
Not a tree.
A forest.
Games gave us tech trees: visible, finite, everyone climbing the same branches. Reality isn't like that. There are whole forests of tech nobody has walked into. What we know is a clearing.
And the least-mapped part of the forest is inside. The daring don't innovate by climbing higher in the clearing. They walk into the dark, far, with a lantern.
Upgrade the one living it.
Everyone's racing to extend the lifespan. Almost nobody's upgrading the experience of the one living it. A thousand years of reactivity is a thousand years of tax.
People say they want enlightenment. What they want is the baseline wellbeing. Happiness billionaire, not just a longevity billionaire. Live a 9/10 happiness day. Every day.
Lucidpunk is the genre where that's the frontier.
The genre is open.
Cyberpunk was built by many hands. So is this. Write the stories. Make the art. Or skip the fiction and run the practice. It's horizontal, not hierarchical.
